4 tips for choosing the right Reiki training

Writer: Alysa BarthaAlysa Bartha

There are numerous teachers, institutions, training courses, and practitioners of Reiki all over the world to choose from. This can open up a pool of confusion, especially for interested Reiki students. As a would-be Reiki student, finding the appropriate Reiki Master can truly be challenging. You should look for a teacher who has the full energy within them, one who is proficient in practicing the rituals and techniques, and one who is passionate as well as educated in the practice of Reiki

An important thing to understand as a learner of Reiki is that this healing process is a holistic system that covers several factors in relation to healing, balancing, and harmonizing every single aspect of an individual. The balanced and harmonized factors can be utilized to promote both spiritual and personal consciousness and growth. Reiki is a healing technique that is safe and can be learned by anyone. If you are wondering how this can be, the main reason is that all the strategies are easy to learn and are executed gently. Reiki healers actually make use of the limitless supply of spiritual energy in the complementary treatment of mental, physical, and emotional diseases and problems, but with the absence of massage or any other pressure or manipulation.

Reiki is all about doing good in one’s lifetime. It applies to where it is necessary. The client who receives a reiki hearing will only receive the appropriate energy that they require at the time they are being treated. Reiki is not in any way pushed or forced into the client by the practitioner, but instead, the energy is drawn into the client as the practitioner delivers it. It is also necessary to note that throughout the session, the client will not take the energy that belongs to the therapist. What the client absorbs is pure and clean Reiki energy.

During your search, you pay attention to who you are drawn towards. You should go to the person with whom you feel most comfortable. They should be someone who can confidently teach and guide you. They should be someone who can feel for what you need and desire to learn, responding to your needs considerately.

Some things you should look for when seeking your teacher:

Proficiency. Your Master should have worked hard and long to know every single detail that comprises the art of healing. They should be able to perform the techniques based on what they have learned, experienced, and practiced.

Lineage. Reiki Masters can belong to different lineage traditions. You should find out what affiliations they keep so that you will be able to know the teachings and techniques that they are likely to impart. Your master should be able to produce their lineage with their Master Teacher Certifications.

Qualifications. Be sure that your Master is certified. There are prerequisites prior to being qualified to become a Reiki master teacher. Reiki Masters should have significant education and training in reiki practices, techniques and philosophy. You should carefully interview the Reiki Master you have in mind before signing up for their training courses. if they make you feel uncomfortable in any way take note of your feelings and don't ignore them.

Class Outline. What will they teach you? Will they reveal the symbols and if so, in what sequence? Will they teach you their self-discovered techniques? What about class Fees? Will they provide any class materials? The teacher should happily and openly answer all your questions, obscuring nothing. They should also make an effort to help you understand the full scope of the training they are offering so you can determine if the training will help you meet your personal goals.

Overall, the Reiki Master will be the one who will hone your skills with the right amount of techniques, hand positions, and energy usage. It is a must to look around for the best Masters who are qualified to provide the teachings. Be sure to ask lots of questions and trust your own instincts when choosing the master who will train you.

A little about me -

My reiki journey began over 10 years ago with a muscular back injury. Having suffered a lumbar sprain, I was in need of healing as all the conventional remedies I had tried were doing NOTHING! So, as luck would have it I had a friend who was a reiki practitioner that offered me a treatment. To my ever-lasting surprise, not only was the treatment successful, it inspired the first steps toward a lifelong reiki practice. Since that time I have earned Master-Teacher degrees in Usui Shiki Ryoho and Tibetan Reiki, Grand Master Degree in Divine Yu Reiki system and a Master Teacher in Holy Fire Reiki. I currently teach all degrees of Reiki to students all over the world from Australia to the UK, Canada and the United States.

I love all that I have learned from Reik and find it deeply fulfilling to impart its teachings to my students.
