North Star Mystic Academy

As you know there are many, many online learning platforms out there. There are so many opportunities to learn at your own pace for bottom dollar, with all the materials pre-recorded and lifetime access to the information. In fact, on most of these platforms, you can get a “certification” in just about anything. I think if you wanted to, you could get a certification in scratching your ass if you looked for one long enough. 

Yeah… I said it!

 

Let me be honest here, I’ve taken a few of those online courses in my time. Even when the material was good, which in some cases it truly was… I still felt like something was missing. 

It took me a little while but I finally figured out what it was, I realized I was feeling like I was left to my own devices- which sucked. 

 

I can’t count the number of times I had a question with no one to answer or the moments when I could have used encouragement when I was feeling unsure of the skills I was trying to gain. Even though the idea of a “go at your own pace” learning sounded good… I gotta admit, there are still classes I haven’t finished. 

Why? Because - well - there was no accountability. No one to care whether I finished or crapped out halfway. I’m not saying there is anything wrong with go at your own pace style of learning, for some people that is the best possible option to meet the goals that they have set for themselves. But for me, I just felt deflated more than accomplished.

 

So if I was going to start an online academy, how in the hell was I going to make it different? How was I going to bring online learning to you and make it worth your time? With this question in mind, I turned off the outside world and mentally rain danced my way into one hell of a brainstorming session. 

 

Here’s what we came up with - 

 

Leadership - We want to make sure every student who enrolls in an N.S.M.A. class feels like they are part of something. My vision is to create a standard of practice in the mystical arts that people feel they can trust, and practitioners that lead the way in the mystical arts with integrity.

 

Accountability - Students need to feel like their success matters. That isn’t accomplished by simply providing lessons and a certificate alone. You need someone to care about your success and that is why we offer accountability because we know it is vital for you to stay on track and achieve your goals so that you will thrive. We offer several ways for you to interact with instructors, mentors and other students who together create a kindred community.

 

Structure without dogma - Many who are drawn to esoteric, mystical, metaphysical and holistic healing arts are a little “different” they need space for self-discovery. They need guidelines without rules so to speak. I have always said that there are universal LAWS that should be adhered to, but the rest is for us to discover and adapt. 

 

Community - Nothing great was ever achieved in a vacuum! Now more than ever before it is important to have a place where you feel encouraged. Community is an important component that contributes to every person's improvement. When you feel supported, understood and accepted you are far more likely to be successful in achieving your goals. 

 

LIVE classes - There are so many virtues to LIVE online classes, such as it is environmentally friendly since there is no need to travel. Time zones and continents don’t prohibit your access to learning what you want to learn with a real person teaching. Live online classes allow you to interact with other students, mentors and your instructor to create a far more enriching learning experience. And you can learn in your jammies!!

 

LIVE mentors - I have always said there is no better way to learn than to teach. Mentorship is mutually beneficial for everyone involved. The Mentor gets to grow as a practitioner by sharing what they know with their mentee. The Mentee benefits from having someone who has been where they are and can help them stay on path with their growth. Everybody wins! Plus you get to make friends!

 

Continued support - Just because a class is over it doesn't mean your relationship with our community is. Your journey doesn’t start or stop on a class schedule and neither should the support you receive. This is why community is such an important fixture of NSMA. You should be able to talk to like-minded people and get the continued support necessary for your growth.

 

Personal growth- Having direction and purpose in life is part of what gives people a sense of fulfilment and joy. Therefore, one of the cornerstones of the academy is to provide several options for continued personal growth such as mentorship & instructor programs available for students, discounts on future courses based on membership with the academy and so much more.
